The UltraTech 9857 Grate Guard is a sediment-only, high-flow stormwater inlet protection insert designed for 28" x 42" flat storm drain grates. It installs under the grate using a high-flow woven filter fabric to retain sediment, silt, and debris while allowing runoff to pass through to the drain. Once installed, accumulated material can be removed from street level with basic tools, reducing the need to lift or remove the grate during routine maintenance.
- 28" x 42" Inlet Coverage – Sized to fit 28" x 42" (711 x 1,068 mm) storm drain grates, providing full under-grate coverage for sediment and debris control in flat grate catch basins.
- Sediment-Only High-Flow Filtration – High-flow woven filter media captures debris, sediment, and silt while maintaining flow through the drain in a sediment-only, no-overflow configuration.
- Under-Grate Installation – Installs beneath the storm drain grate as an insert, allowing the grate to remain in place while the filter collects material from incoming runoff.
- Street-Level Maintenance – Sediment and debris can be removed with a broom, flat shovel, or similar tool from street level, minimizing grate handling and simplifying maintenance.
- Durable Woven Construction – Manufactured with high-flow woven fabric and hi-vis polypropylene construction, with a 2 lb (0.9 kg) unit weight suitable for repeated use in stormwater programs.
